In this tasks students learn putting sentences together to form a paragraph. The pictures help them get their ideas organized and get started. They can start off their paragraph with something like (Life in the past was difficult) – circle 01-.

According to your students level and familiarity with writing paragraphs, you can encourage them to use some connectors (because, and, ..). Also you may encourage using some adjectives and adverbs.

Inventions – Vocabulary Practice

Task 01:

- Students match pictures with their respective names – an easy task.

Task 02:

The old fashion way of practicing spelling (^^,) However, it is still valuable at some stages. Direct students, after tracing the grey example, to start from the last line at the bottom and work their way to the top. In this manner, students will cover their first copied word and will be pushed to look at the example.

Sometime students, when working from top to bottom, tend to look at the last word they copied which might have some spelling mistakes.

- Learn about various invetions found around us, and what value they have in our life.

- Reading a short passage about an invention and filling in a table.

- Using the table to write a paragraph about the same invention without copying from the actual passage.

For teachers who use another curriculum, you may change the first question into (Complete the table) and ask your students – as a homework – to search and find the four pieces of information.

Inventions Around Us- 01

~:| Descreption |:~

This worksheet is a modefied version of a previous one I developed around the same tasks. The idea is to introduce the meaning of the word invention and help students guess the word instead of giving it straight away.

Task 01:

Students distinguish things that are creations of Allah – The Almighty God – and things that people make.

Task 02:

Students write the name of each picture below it. You may let your students do it by themselves or do it with them. Some words might be new to them. Just make sure they got the spelling right because they will need it in the next task. ( I included comet + fossils to recycle those words from the previous unit in UAE Parade-).

Task 03:

Just a question to raise to students and give them the chance to guess what those things might be called. If some already knew the word and gave the answer, you can just tell them to move to the next task to check their answers.

Task 04:

In each grid, students need to color/shade the letters that spell the name of the picture next to it. The letters are not necessary in order – See the answer to get a clearer idea – and each grid contains a syllable.

Task 05:

Students need to put the three syllibi together and write the word in the space given in the title.

This is what the previous version looked like. I thought it needed a few touches to be more appealing. Also some letters in the grid weren’t shwoing clearly. Letters like [O] would be cut and appear like [C] which messed up the whole task   (-_-“) ..

So, if you see this worksheet somewhere else under a name which isn’t mine (Dedicated-Teacher), know for sure that they have borrowed it from me and just thought of sharing without refering it back to me (^^,).

Reading Comprehemsion Template

In this template, think of it as a reading puzzle as an extra challenage to students and breaking the usual reading comprehension tasks.

In Task.01:

There are three parts : Text box at the top + Picture box below + Number Name Tags at the bottom.

In the text box, instead of writing the direct vocabulary you want to test, type in sentences that describes those vocabulary. For example, in a theme of jobs, you can write what people usually do on each job instead of writing the title/name of the job.

The rest two parts are obvious in what to include in.

In Task 02 + 03:

Here your questions could include the direct vocabulary you explained above to see if your students are able to make the connections and have understood what you’ve been teaching. The tasks could not only be what I ‘ve included. You may edit those two text-boxes and write your own questions.

You just need to add your pictures next to each wordsearch grid and change some letters to spell the target vocabulary. It would be easier for students to search for one word at time in a smaller scale.

[ General Description ]

- Health problems dominoes: It is a cut and paste/glue activity were students have to cut the domino stone and glue them in the correct order to finish thier boards. There are two boards with similar vocabulary and descriptions but in a different order. Divide your students into pairs of student-A and student-B. Explain how domino is usually played. Then give out the dominoes each with his respective letter for them cut the stones. Finally hand in the boards and ask them to put the stones in order before using any glue. They can glue, once you give your approval.
